The UAE government has just launched the special Amnesty 2024 to forgive people who are illegally residing in the country and not to punish them with fines.


Who are eligible for the UAE 2024 AMNESTY scheme?

1. Overstayed Visas

  • Individuals who have overstayed their visa-free entry period.

    2. Absconded Workers:

  • Children born in the UAE to parents who haven't applied for their residency.
  • Children who have been living in the UAE without legal documentation.

  • 3. Undocumented Children:

  • Employees who have left their employers without proper procedures.
  • People who have abandoned their jobs without notifying the authorities.

  • Who Are Excluded From this Visa Amnesty Scheme?

    While offering significant relief to many, there are specific groups that cannot benefit from this scheme. Here’s who is excluded from the 2024 amnesty:

    1. Individuals Who Entered the Country Illegally

  • Those who entered the UAE without proper documentation or visas are not eligible for the amnesty. These individuals, often referred to as “infiltrators,” are excluded from the program and must deal with their cases separately through the appropriate legal channels..

    2. Recent Visa Violators

  • Individuals who have violated their visa terms after the amnesty period begins on September 1, 2024, are not eligible for this program. The amnesty is specifically designed for those who overstayed or violated their visa conditions before this date.

  • 3. Deportation Cases

  • Individuals who have been previously deported from the UAE or any of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are not eligible for the amnesty. These cases typically involve serious legal violations, and the ban on re-entry remains in place.

  • 4. Serious Criminal Offenders

  • People who have committed serious crimes or are facing criminal charges are generally not eligible for the amnesty. The program is designed to address immigration violations, not criminal offenses. Such individuals would need to address their legal issues through the UAE’s legal system.

  • 5. Those With Unresolved Legal Disputes Not Covered by the Amnesty

  • While the amnesty covers visa violations, it does not necessarily resolve all types of legal disputes, such as those involving civil or criminal cases not related to visa status. Individuals in these situations might still face legal consequences outside the scope of the amnesty program.

  • 6. Absconders Reported After September 1st, 2024

  • Employees who are reported as absconders (leaving their employer without proper notice) after the start of the amnesty period will not benefit from the program. The amnesty only covers absconding cases reported before September 1st, 2024.
